Part-Time Test Engineer II (Part-Time)
Job Description
Work Schedule:
Part-time, up to 29 hours per week. May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or project.
Summary:
The Test Engineer II needs to have experience in testing multiple platforms for an enterprise portal serving 1M users. The Test Engineer II will ensure that the requirements for the baseline are verified and the system is functioning as expected. This person will be instrumental in the execution of day-to-day software testing activities and must collaborate effectively with integrated team members. The Test Engineer II will maintain test system configurations, test data sets, and develop test procedures to ensure traceability, along with test executions. Test Engineer II will also ensure the application is mobile friendly using iOS and Android devices. The Test Engineer II is also responsible for developing Problem Trouble Reports (PTRs) to document discrepancies and perform an analysis of Test Results (TR). The Integration and Test methodology should focus equally on the user experience, functionality, and system performance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Communicate with systems engineers to understand the requirements.
- Communicate with development team to harmonize the hand-off from development to systems test.
- Analyze system requirements and technical specifications that encompass numerous testing activities such as functional, non-functional, nominal, non-nominal, regression, performance, etc. and then create the test plan, test cases, test scripts and document results.
- Leverage a variety of tools and techniques to perform functional, regression, integration, security, and stress testing.
- Utilize enterprise tools for testing activities such as JIRA, BrowserStack, SharePoint, Microsoft Office applications, etc.
- Produce reports and documentation for all testing efforts, results, activities, data, logging and tracking.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
Position consists of sitting for long periods of time, bending, stooping, crouching, and lifting weights up to 20 pounds. Frequently uses hands/fingers for manipulation of keyboard and mouse. Seeing up close, must not be color blind. Work Environment:
Work is performed in an office environment the majority of the time. Some remote work may be permitted under special circumstances.
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Accredited B.S. in Computer Science or an equivalent field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in an integrated environment and multi-discipline collaboration (i.e. Systems Engineer, Software Developers, DevOps, customer, etc.)
- Experience in testing Web applications, 508 compliance, and Responsive User Interface.
- Experience with automated testing.
- Experience with mobile testing.
- Experience with web based testing.
- Experience with best practices in configuration management using tools like Bitbucket and Git.
- Systems Engineering Lifecycle knowledge. Must be process oriented and experienced in maturing a total system solution throughout the entire system lifecycle.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
Special Skills:
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized and efficient with ability to document all levels of testing from unit to system testing.
- Comprehensive problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload in order to meet necessary deadlines.
- Experience in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, etc.).
Travel:
Travel up to 25% possible, but not anticipated.
Driving Requirements:
Must have or be able to attain a valid state driver’s license and be insurable on the company’s automobile insurance policy.
Driving, with or without accommodation, may be required when traveling for training and/or short occasional amounts of local driving. The expected driving time is less than 25%.
