JOB REQUIREMENTS
This role will be responsible for the effective planning, development and deployment of all Materials (Raw Materials, intercompany, FG externally sourced) sourcing activities and therefore of the Material Planning office (including the RM stores) to ensure that material sourcing is consistent with the factory’s requirement and ultimately the customer’s requirements. Due to the nature of the cable accessories business and the customer expectations regarding parts traceability, the resource will also be responsible for the CA Plant Quality department, overseeing all quality assurance activities and ensuring, by supporting the Senior Quality engineer, the effective management of quality in accordance with legal, external and internal requirements.
Serving as a link between the sourcing of goods and the quality assurance of finished products this role will have the responsibility of optimizing the flow from the beginning (Materials planning and sourcing) to the end (up to customer inspection – when required) of the operations of the Plant by ensuring connection and coordination between all stakeholders.
The specific duties of this position include the following:
- Chairing daily Material Planning department meetings to review all sourcing activities are in line with customers’ demands and production schedule
- Participating to weekly reviews with Manufacturing, Quality and Planning in order to ensure continuous alignment between production plans and materials availability
- Supervise all materials sourcing activities (44* orders, 45* orders review, production and purchasing exceptions).
- Supervise invoice queries resolution
- Create and control ad hoc KPIs for assessing the Material Planning and the Quality departments’ performances – and drive improvements in those KPI’s
- Supervising correct follow-up of Order acknowledgement
- Keep the Aged Stock of RM within acceptable levels
- Liaising with Sales and Engineering departments regarding specific orders, customer enquiries and development with focus on materials sourcing and quality requirements
- Identifying, monitoring and evaluating processes for improvement focus and to reduce cost.
- Supervising correct management of all RM Stores activities
- Supervising RED order management in those duties applicable to Materials Planning and sourcing and quality activities
- Ensure correct levels of safety stocks are maintained in order to ensure the best trade off between service to customer, availability for balancing production flow and stock values
- Chase/Challenge, in collaboration with Purchasing, suppliers in case of poor service or delays and look for solutions to avoid impact on customers (alternative suppliers, different method of shipment/sourcing, pure and simple chasing of suppliers)
- Work with Purchasing department and suppliers for improving suppliers’ lead times on critical items
- Supervise correct input of the team in the CA daily dashboard
- Ensure resources are performing all activities of support to other departments (Checking Production orders closed with operations missed, gathering of info for item masters…)
- Motivating and developing the team and conducting performance reviews/identifying training needs to ensure that skill base is not a constraint.
- Supervise all Quality department’s activities and support the Senior Quality Engineer in ensuring activities progress in line with internal and external customer expectation in terms of time (OTD), product quality, adherence to regulations and standards and adherence to documentation required by the customer (content and timings). This may require hands-on support during certain stages of the manufacturing process.
- Participate to quality assurance activities
- Provide cover in the activities performed by the Senior Quality Engineer depending on workload
- Ensure Quality and Material Planning departments’ activities are carried out in the most effective and efficient way aiming at complying with customers’ expectations, OTD targets and adherence to forecast.
- Facilitate and foster clear and effective communication between Material Planning, Quality and all other CA departments
- Participate in the continuous improvement of Y.E. stock take activities
The successful candidate will have a good standard of general education, an HNC or above in a relevant field, together with experience in a manufacturing environment.
Working under pressure, you will be able to demonstrate excellent communication and inter-personal skills together with a “team player” approach. This role will also require a high degree of self-motivation and organizational ability. An excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office and SAP will be essential.
