Part-Time Specialist Occupational Therapist
Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Specialist Occupational Therapist to join the Newcastle Learning Disabilities Team on a fixed term 12 month contract. The team provide a comprehensive range of services to adults with a learning disability within the community.
You will be expected to manage a caseload of service users with a learning disability living in the community, many of whom will have complex needs. You will need to use your clinical reasoning to assess how learning disability, mental health and physical health impacts upon occupation and performance of the service user. You will apply specialist assessments and interventions to enable people to actively participate in their home lives, and, in their local communities, developing skills to improve their independence and safety. The successful candidate will show an ability to work independently, but also as part of an integrated MDT, and, able to liaise with relevant external agencies.
This post would be suitable for an experienced Band 5 ready to take on a new challenge in their career or an already established band 6 looking to expand their clinical skills in a new area. Previous experience within this clinical area is not essential, although knowledge of the impact of a learning disability on function, and an interest to work within this clinical area is required.
We require an Occupational Therapist with the ability to work independently and with a commitment to their own personal and professional development. Regular formal and informal supervision and support will be provided.
