Part-Time Senior WordPress Engineer
Job Description
Our platform has carried us so far but we have taken it to its limits. We are currently deep in tech transformation moving to a new platform. We operate in AWS Cloud, building microservices, exploring asynchronous communications models and investing more in JVM technologies. Our WordPress content management system is aiming to expand to utilize the smartest marketing technology available while we move away from our bespoke content management system.

As a senior engineer, you are expected to collaborate strongly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to simplify problems, create abstractions, and define clear solutions. You are a team player, happy to mentor, provide constructive feedback either directly or through code reviews, eager and capable of leading tech communities (e.g. code clubs) but you can also work independently with minimal or no supervision. You are not afraid of responsibility; you make real difference in the team and you can be the go-to person.
WHAT DO WE EXPECT
- Capable leadership with ability to manage and deliver large or complex projects
- Proven demonstrable experience with WordPress
- Prior experience with WordPress plugins and themes
- Understanding and implementation of WordPress security best practice
- Fluency with PHP, HTML, JS/CSS and MySQL
- Ensuring high-performance and availability, and all technical aspects of the CMS
- Exceptional collaborator, comfortable with conversations across business functions
- Practiced in CI, CD ideally using Bitbucket, Bamboo and Jenkins
- Modern software engineering approaches
- Comfortable working in an agile environment
- Highly desirable devops skills utilizing terraform, packer, ansible, and Jenkins on AWS.
- Preferably have experience with Cloudflare
