Full-Time Process And Product Engineering Manager
Job Description
Reporting to the Plant Manager and leading a team of Process & Development Engineers this position will be responsible for providing technical support and solutions to improve all aspects of the sites manufacturing processes, using continuous improvement and proactive methodologies to ensure that optimum material, machine efficiencies, and quality are achieved.
Specific responsibilities will include;
- Leadership of the Process & Development Engineering Team including its development, resource priritisation and deployment.
- Provide day-to-day support to the sites production processes, including root-cause identification and rectification of process faults.
- Regular Right First Time analysis to identify process issues (4M) and develop / implement actions to drive measurable improvement.
- Optimise process capability by providing appropriate process conditions and control limits.
- Propose, evaluate and implement improvement projects to provide cost savings in areas such as material, machine and manpower efficiency, and “Cost of Poor Quality”.
- Departmental interface, decision maker on potential orders / new design capability.
- Interpret cable design specifications and provide Process Instructions and Job Details, line side training to relevant resources.
- Specify, develop and purchase tooling and equipment for production.
- Supervise the industrialisation of new processes, materials and product developments.
- Technically evaluate, approve and introduce products, new materials and multisource suppliers.
- Manage the Cables Engineering Materials and Electrical Test Laboratory.
- Commission new equipment and manufacturing processes.
- Monitor and report on relevant key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Establish and maintain technical and training documentation.
- Provide support for quality complaints, including where necessary customer interface and visits.
- Support site activity, including Customer visits, Factory Acceptance Tests, Audits and campaigns.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level, in a Technical discipline with proven experience in improvement methods and techniques. Candidates will also be able to demonstrate proven analytical and problem-solving skills within a manufacturing process environment and have a hands-on approach to their work. In addition, candidates will have the drive and determination to make things happen and to achieve objectives without compromising standards.
Being responsible for a small professional team, direct supervisory / people management skills are required. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal are essential, as is the ability to work independently and within a team..

This role is based at our Wrexham site, the address of which is Oak Road, Wrexham Industrial Estate, Wrexham, LL13 9PH. We are able to offer free car parking next to the site.
