West Berkshire Council have rare opportunitie for a full time registered Occupational Therapist to join our friendly and supportive team. We are a small Local Authority with a mixture of urban and rural communities which offers great variety and positive challenges. West Berkshire Council is embracing a new way of working with a strong focus on localities and a strengths based approach to the people that we work with.

Joint Care Provider Services provides an integrated health and social care pathway for people requiring a care package to facilitate their discharge from hospital. The Occupational Therapists will work closely with individuals once they return home to focus on goal setting and getting people back to their previous level of independence. The Occupational Therapists work very closely with the WBC Reablement carers as well as external care providers in ensuring that situations are safe and person centred. They will work alongside Social Workers and Social Care Practitioners where long term care needs are identified and safeguarding or mental capacity issues have been highlighted.

The role will require you to have knowledge of reablement strategies, equipment provision, moving and positioning risk assessments, single carer management, postural management, minor adaptations and some involvement in the DFG process.

This role requires the incumbent to have a car available at work to undertake his/her duties as they will be expected to undertake at least 1500 business miles per year.
