Part-Time DevOps Engineer
Job Description
An award-winning Bristol-based tech business driving digital transformation within their industry is looking for a DevOps Engineer. The business is doing incredibly well and this role will support their DevOps strategy and help deliver their already established and highly successful platform to their ever-expanding client base. They have impressive growth plans ahead, which will see them expand into new markets, so it’s a really exciting time to be joining them on their journey.
*4 days remote working and 1 day a week in the office ideally.
What you’ll need:
- Previous DevOps OR Software Development experience working with AWS or Azure.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to relay DevOps practises to other members of the team.
- Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code (CloudFormation or Terraform).
- Ability to analyse and maintain infrastructure performance.
- Happy working in a busy environment across multiple projects and workstreams at the same time, and able to organise and manage your time effectively.
Bonus skills:
- Relevant degree, qualifications, or certifications.
- It would be great if you have coding experience, particularly with PHP (Laravel) or React.
- Knowledge of containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes or similar).
- Understanding of autonomation – previous experience with Selenium/Cucumber would be beneficial.
What you’ll be doing:
As the DevOps specialist, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider team to deliver high availability infrastructure to users of their platform. You will be responsible for building and maintaining infrastructure, monitoring availability and performance, and managing CI/CD deployment pipelines. You will also help inform the decisions around cloud strategy, security, automation, monitoring, maintenance, and performance. Your opinions will be valued, and you’ll be involved at every stage from planning to delivery. There’s a big focus on scalability and automation and there are some significant new projects coming up. The entire dev team are trained in AWS and as the company grows they expect the DevOps team to scale too, so there are brilliant progression opportunities.
